The northern womens tournament presented by gim

The Northern Tournament, presented by Girls in Motion in September 2024, welcomed 45 players all under 300 Squash Levels. The format was designed around the entrants themselves – ensuring the draw, ball choice and match timings suited their needs – to make competitive squash truly accessible and enjoyable.

Every player received a tournament t-shirt and had the support of a coach on hand throughout the day, helping to guide them through matches and build their confidence. For many, this was their first time competing outside of their club, and the friendly atmosphere turned nerves into excitement. Prizes, encouragement and plenty of smiles ensured the day was as much about enjoyment as results.

By presenting the competition, GIM demonstrated its commitment to growing participation and retention in women’s squash. The event not only gave dozens of players their first competitive experience, but also strengthened links with clubs and coaches across the North – laying the groundwork for more opportunities and a thriving future for women and girls in the game.
