The Northern Womens Open 2025

Our Northern Women’s Open was back for its second year — and sold out again! Forty-seven women took part in this friendly beginner-to-intermediate event (under 300 Squash Levels) designed to help players build confidence and enjoy competition in a supportive space.

The morning featured 7-minute round-robin matches, giving everyone plenty of games before the graded knockout rounds in the afternoon. Volunteer coaches and court managers kept the energy positive — adapting rules, offering second serves, and cheering everyone on.

A fun highlight was the interactive exhibition match with pro player Julianne Courtice, where the crowd decided every “let” and “stroke.” The laughter (and disagreements!) helped players feel more confident marking their own games later on.

The day finished with three knockout grades and prizes for places 1–4 — but the real win was the confidence gained and friendships made.
