NWWSL Captains Workshop - Building female leadership
On Saturday 10th January 2026 we brought together 14 women from across the North West for a dedicated captains workshop — focused on confidence, leadership and supporting women’s league squash from the inside out.
Led by the brilliant Tania Bailey, the session created a safe, supportive space where women openly shared their confidence concerns, leadership challenges and experiences of captaining teams.
One of the most powerful outcomes was how open discussion helped normalise and lessen those concerns — hearing others share similar experiences reduced self-doubt and built collective confidence. Women left knowing they weren’t alone, and with practical ways to move forward.
Through on-court activity and honest conversation, captains explored how to lead with confidence, communicate clearly and create welcoming environments. Many have already fed back that they’ve started using these skills in sessions and with their teams, from changing how they welcome new players to feeling more assured in their leadership.
The feedback says it all
100% of attendees said they would sign up for a similar course again
The main ask? More time and longer sessions
Huge thanks to England Squash for supporting this work, and to Cheetham Hill Squash Club for hosting us and providing such a great space for learning and connection.
This is what growing women’s squash looks like — investing in the women who lead teams, shape culture and keep players on court
